Aquarium fun

Last weekend, the girls and I made a very fast last minute trip to Atlanta. Jason had to go out of town for work and we decided to head over to Atlanta for a visit with family and the Georgia Aquarium! We have been there before, but this trip was really fun for Reese. My mom and sister both went with us on Saturday and it was great. We went towards the end of the day so it was not too crowded; and then on Sunday, Ashley met us up there again! It was so great to have someone there to follow Reese all around and point things out to her since I had Hadley! If you have not been to the Georgia Aquarium...I would recommend going!
I think this was Reese's favorite part...she gave the penguin at least 4 hugs and made a point to wave crazily at him until he acknowledged her!
This tank is my favorite, the Whale sharks are amazing!
Bebe and Reese looking at all the fish!
Ashley and Reese riding along on the "moving floor" under a really fun tank.
Touching the jellyfish...Reese told me they were ENORMOUS!

Who needs a teething ring!

When you have your toes! As you can see over the past month Hadley has found her feet, but more importantly she has discovered how to take her toes (mainly her big toe) and rub them back and forth across her gums! As I am writing this, I realize this sounds disgusting...but just remember, this ones little toes are still all cute and clean and so fun! And, it seems the toes are working, as her part of her first little tooth poked through yesterday.

Caught in the act!

Serious about getting those toes as she fold in half to reach them!

And finally for your enjoyment...some actual proof that a 5 1/2 month old can throw a fit! (granted she is teething and just not feeling well...but wow...she knows how to get mad)

Are you smarter than a 2 year old?

Well, she is almost 3, but regardless she is a smart one! Here is a recent conversation.

Reese: Mommy what do the yellow signs mean? (pointing at the yellow road signs)
Me: Yellow signs mean Caution and then they tell us something like, children crossing, sharp turn, ect...
Reese: What does that one say?
Me: that one means caution, slow down, a sharp curve ahead
FAST FOWARD ABOUT 10 MINUTES AS WE PASS BY ANOTHER SIGN JUST LIKE THAT ONE...
Reese: Mommy the sign says slow down for a curve and you're not slowing down!
Me: grinning becuase I got caught...and now I am rethinking teaching her about speed limit signs
Here she is trying to catch snowflakes the other day
Wishing for enough snow to make snowangles
Check out this cutie on her first day of having rice cereal!

5 Months

Maybe I just don't remember, but it feels like time is flying by with Hadley! I can not believe that she is 5 months old today! With that said, she is so much fun, and like her sister, she has lots of personality! She is moving and shaking...rolling back and forth, inching around on her stomach (I swear she is trying to crawl), and getting her little vocal chords primed to talk! She truely loves Reese so much. When we are driving Hadley spends most of the time trying to sit forward in her seat to see Reese! She smiles a lot and does a lot of little giggles and she has had a few belly laughs (ironically all on the changing table...she knows what she is doing). She is a great sleeper and started sleeping from about 7 pm until 6:30 or 7 am about 4 weeks ago! And to my surprise she, like her sister, prefers her hands to the paci! I have been trying but all I hear all day is the paci popping out and in go her fingers (oh well, there are worse things right)! Here are some pictures of our little princess!

Check out my sweet smile!

Checking things out...she loves being on her tummy so she can pick her head up and see what is going on.

Sitting with my childhood doll, Elvira (the blonde) and my sister's Teresa (the red head) at Bebe's house. We did this every visit with Reese to measure her growth...kind of fun.

These are a few of my favorite things...

Taking baths and sucking my fingers...all the time!
My playmat...but even more my sissy Reese!
My carseat and wearing hats that my mom really loves!
A new love...the exersaucer...I am figuring things out
Well, this is not my favorite...I love my sister but sometimes she loves me too much!
Example number 2...can you find me?
Here I am...she was just giving me some close hugs and kisses...mom says we are working on teaching her personal space!

Three Little Monkeys

New Years Day

I have never quite had a New Year' s Day like this one. Let's just say it was a day with 10 adults and 11 children from 10 weeks to 5 years old! It was so much fun and very wild! The Brooks' hosted a great New Year's Feast complete with a fried Turkey (compliments of Chris)! It was so fun to be able to celebrate with so many of my girlfriends from college and their kids!

Jason and Chris playing a little game of...well I can't remember what it was called!
Three little monkeys (Addie, Addie Gail and Reese) They had so much fun... they all play so well together...Addie and Addie Gail are about a month apart and Reese is about 9 months younger but you couldn't tell by height (Reese is so tall)!

Hadley with her Aunt Memi

Uncle Christ kept the kids entertained for a bit on the top bunk...let's just say that bunk was swaying by the end!

Addie Gail and Reese with their thumbs!
Little Miss Maggie was sound asleep most of the time (10 week old)
Hadley did some napping of her own in Maggie's bed!

New Year's Eve

This New Year's Eve we decided to take the whole family out and get the girls all dressed up! We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Cocina Superior, and we had a great time. I had bought Reese a dress last year at the end of Christmas season (best time for sales) at baby Gap so inexpensively, so we decided that she needed to wear it! Luckily Aunt Ashley had given Hadley a fancy dress of her own for Christmas!

This pictures makes me want to cry...she looks so old!
Mommy trying to get a picture with the girls
Daddy and Hadley at Concina (Hadley did great..she just sat back and enjoyed the celebration)
Reese feeding Daddy a New Year's treat...ice cream with hot fudge! (compliments of our wonderful waiter who Reese fell in love with- he gave her an animal bracelet)
SOOOO Good!
Trying to get the girls...Hadley was trying to wiggle away!

Round 3

Our final Christmas celebration is a very special tradtion we have. We call it our "family Christmas" and that family consists of Katherine, Dan and James Alexander (and little baby boyAlexander coming soon); Aunt Bethany and then the Beckner clan! Anyway this year was more fun than ever as Reese and James are at that age where they love playing with each other and running around wild! It was so fun to watch! You can see how much these two have changed in a year if you click here and scroll to the third picure, that was last year!

Much to Dan's dismay James loved playing with Reese's Princess castle...but there is a Prince in the castle as well!

Big hugs from Reese and James
Reese and James enjoying dinner at the kids table...Katherine made an amazing dinner and brought it over for all of us!
