Memorial Weekend...projects and fun

I love long weekends! This weekend was no exception...we really just laid low for the weekend, and actually had a moment to think about what we are celebrating this weekend. It makes me truely grateful for the many women and men who put their lives in danger to protect our freedoms (I hope the leaders of our country don't forget that).

Anyway, getting an extra day with Jason is so great...no work, no stress, no schedules! Sadly it did rain alot this weekend, but we thought of things to do!

First of all...Jason and Reese played a little game with a diaper box! We turned the diaper box into a ride!

We also managed to cookout, even in the rain...and Reese had her first go at her own corn on the cob! I usually just cut if off for her...but today she wanted her own...and boy did she love it!

Jason and I worked hard on our own DIY project (well, Jason did most of the work). So, this is the before (very ugly dresser that has been in our guest room and I hate it...but)
Look at it now...have not found handles I like or that fit in budget yet, so the ribbon will have to do for now. I think it looks great!
Finally, we topped the weekend off with some pool time at Ross Bridge. Reese wowed lots of bystanders with her swimming skills. There are also some pics from the other weekend swimming. She has only had 4 lessons and she is a little fish!
Going full force at Ross Bridge!

Golf

For the past 6 1/2 years I have begun to have a increasing appreciation for the game of golf and I owe it all to my husband (and Tiger Woods) but really to my husband! When Jason and I first started dating I began to learn all kinds of things about golf...at first I thought it was boring...but now I love it! And for those of you who know me well...you know that I LOVE Tiger Woods! I mean I am amazed by him; by his talent, his determination, his physical fitness level and just his love for the game. I think I love these things because they are all characterstics that Jason has. Seriously, I married him because of how he truely loves things with all of himself, works hard at everything (following God, being a husband, dad, basketball, staying in shape, his job, ect..) Anyway...sorry for the tangent...back to Golf. Now, don't get me wrong...I have no desire to play golf, but I truely LOVE watching golf (mainly when Tiger is playing) and I love that Jason really enjoys golf and now it seems Reese has a love for it too. We had the opportunity to go to the Regions Classic tournament on Saturday with Dan, Katherine, James, Bethany and Steve and we all had a great time.

Reese with Steve (who by the way she calls her boyfriend! Sorry Aunt B, looks like you have some competition!) Steve was gracious enough to indulge Reese and play with her alot that day!

A weekend of Fun

This weekend we had a lot going on and the Beckner's enjoyed every minute of it! This was officially my 3rd Mother's Day, but I think it was the best! I think I just really had a chance to take everything in. We had a low key day and I really had time to be so grateful for my amazing husband and our incredible daughter Reese and baby girl on the way! It also gave me time to really think about how much my mom has meant to me and all that she put on the back burner so that she did things for me! I feel very lucky to have had such a wonderful example of an amazing Godly and loving Mother. I only hope to follow in her footsteps.
We also had a visit from Grandpa Beckner (Jason's dad) and Reese loved every minute of him being here! She loved holdling Grandpa's hand or having him hold her the whole weekend! It was sad on Sunday morning when she woke up and said, "let's go see Grandpa", I said, "remember Grandpa went back to Missouri" and she said sadly, "we won't give him a kiss?" It was really cute! It was a great treat to have Grandpa come in town.
This was Reese at the Zoo...they have opened up the floor fountains and she loved it.

One more fun thing for the weekend was the annual Crawfish boil at Merry Michael's house! It was a great celebration to honor Memi's and Anne's 30th birthday and also Reese's first time to hold a live and well, boiled crawfish! Reese called them little lobsters and I am not sure she really understood that when they had been boiled they were no longer alive...oh well! The little lobster...head in one hand...tail in the other?

The Mine-O-Saur

So, there is this book, called the Mine-O-Saur, and we have enjoyed reading it for the past 6-8 months. It came at a great time when Reese was starting to say mine about things. Luckily for us...that phase passed...we thought! But, the Mine-o-saur has reared her ugly head again! For some reason, Reese has decided that everything is hers...my makeup, my purse, Jason's hats, our car, the windows in our house (don't ask), and Bebe(my mom). Yes, so this past weekend Bebe came for a visit while Jason was out of town and Reese was elated! The excitement began when Bebe and I went to pick Reese up from Mother's day out on Friday (Reese did not know that Bebe was here) and Reese ran to her, hugged her and screamed "we are going to have so much fun". Then came the mine-o-sauer...Bebe and Reese were playing in her room, I enter and Reese begins to say...out, out, move, move...TO ME! Her way of saying, "this is my time with my Bebe...don't come in." And, that was the theme all weekend!

So, we will revert back to working on understanding that all does not belong to Reese, remind her she is the child and hopefully the mine-o-saur will go back in the book! I am so glad that Jason and I are right now in the middle of a wonderful parenting study to help us along on this journey!
